With over 30 years’ experience in rights of way management, including 17 years leading a Rights of Way Team, I can offer knowledge and experience of Definitive Map processes, Public Path Orders, stakeholder liaison and policy development.

You may wish to employ me to:

  • Research and evaluate evidence for Definitive Map Modification Orders,
  • Carry out consultations on Modification or Public Path order applications,
  • Propose strategies for improving your network,
  • Work with local community and voluntary organisations to research the historic rights of way network in specific areas,
  • Carry out basic evidential tests on Section 53 applications,
  • Carry out complete or partial review of your Rights of Way Improvement Plan.

A good local rights of way network can support initiatives for healthy car-free travel and provide opportunities for active recreation.  I have worked closely with local organisations, residents’ groups, and parish councils to record, protect and promote local walking and riding networks.  I can offer knowledge and experience of developing rights of way policies in regional, local and neighbourhood plans and can advise on ways to ensure your local network is properly recorded, protected and promoted.

As a public rights of way specialist, after over 30 years’ working inside local authorities and alongside landowners and rights of way users, I can offer detailed experience in negotiating rights of way issues.

  • Ensure that you meet the requirements of legislation and regulations relating to public rights of way on your land.
  • Comment rights of way and coastal access proposals affecting your land
  • Identify potential impacts on walkers and riders of your development proposals
